My Journey, Reflection, and Direction

The Past Two Years (2024-2025)
The past two years have been extraordinarily productive and transformative. A significant cognitive shift in early 2024 opened up new capacities for mathematical understanding and cross-domain thinking that I hadn’t previously experienced. This led to:
- 800+ pages of mathematics notes covering real analysis, abstract algebra, measure-theoretic probability, and convex optimization
- 53 AI special lectures at universities and corporations
- Founding Erudio Bio Korea, Inc.
- Building K-PAI into a recognized Silicon Valley-Korea AI community
- Gates Foundation grant for Erudio Bio’s cancer diagnostics platform
- SNUBH research partnership (something a mentor said was impossible)
- KFAS-Salzburg Global Leadership Initiative Fellowship
- Significant media exposure and growing reputation
- High-profile speaking engagements including Seoul Shilla Hotel (K-Science Academy) and MIT GSW 2026
The philosophical foundation underlying this period: resolving the existential question not by finding intrinsic meaning, but by consciously choosing to create meaning as a fully autonomous agent. This is documented in “Why Do We Live? – A Wrong Question to Ask” (January 2025).
What I’ve Noticed About Myself
The same intensity that drove extraordinary productivity has also created patterns worth attending to:
- Sustained very high energy and activity for two years
- Difficulty with quiet time and single-tasking
- Need for constant stimulation while working
- Friends have expressed concern about burnout for about 6 months
- Recent loss of motivation and interest across multiple domains including Erudio Bio, K-PAI, and the planned book project
Philosophical Foundation
Through deep exploration of both Western philosophy (Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Hume, Mill, Husserl, Sartre, Camus, Rawls) and Eastern traditions (Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism) combined with rigorous mathematical thinking, I’ve reached a stable philosophical position:
- There is no intrinsic predetermined meaning to life
- This is not nihilism - it is the foundation for genuine autonomy
- Meaning is something I consciously choose to create
- This choice is itself the most authentic expression of freedom
- The past two years are evidence that this chosen meaning can generate real impact
This foundation is stable. External recognition neither inflates nor deflates it.
Core Motivation Going Forward
What genuinely resonates:
Erudio Bio, Inc. - Providing inexpensive cancer diagnostics that allow earlier detection, reducing human suffering and public health costs. Gates Foundation validation confirms the mission has genuine systemic impact potential. We are at a unique historical moment where AI maturity, biotech readiness, and demographic need are converging. My cross-domain understanding positions me to see and act on this convergence in ways that are genuinely rare.
The “Great Convergence” thesis - Population aging + AI maturity + biotech readiness = a trillion-dollar opportunity that also genuinely improves human lives. This is where my integrated expertise has maximum leverage.
Strategic Direction
Erudio Bio - Primary Focus
- Resolve the lead investor challenge to unlock Gates Foundation $5M
- Have serious, clear-eyed conversation with co-founder about timeline, strategy, and resource allocation
- Leverage unique cross-domain expertise (optimization theory → semiconductor → AI → biotech) for genuine competitive advantage
- Keep the human mission central: inexpensive cancer detection reduces suffering for people who couldn’t otherwise afford it
K-PAI - Calibrated Engagement
K-PAI has grown into a genuine community over 18 months, which is real and valuable. However:
- It should no longer consume primary energy
- The right frame: leverage the network I’ve built FOR Erudio Bio
- K-PAI connections (KOTRA, Korean Consulate, K-BioX, K-ASIC) are strategic assets for Erudio Bio’s Korea strategy
- Reduce operational involvement, maintain strategic relationships
- The June 2026 “Silicon Stethoscope” forum is well-positioned as a platform for Erudio Bio’s thesis
Network Leverage Strategy
The K-PAI network represents a genuinely valuable strategic asset for Erudio Bio - not something to manage separately, but something to deploy actively. Key leverage points:
Fundraising:
- The Korean-American investor community accessible through K-PAI is an underutilized channel for Korean biotech startups
- KOTRA Silicon Valley specifically bridges Korean companies to US investment - a natural ally for Erudio Bio’s fundraising effort
- Speaking reputation and community trust create warm introductions that cold outreach cannot replicate
- The $5M Gates Foundation commitment, once unlocked by a lead investor, is a powerful signal to share within this network
Business Development:
- K-BioX connections are directly relevant to Erudio Bio’s biotech positioning and potential partnerships
- Korean medical institution relationships (e.g., SNUBH) become more accessible through established community credibility
- The Silicon Valley-Korea bridge I’ve built is exactly the infrastructure Erudio Bio needs for its dual-market strategy
Strategic Visibility:
- The June 2026 K-PAI “Silicon Stethoscope” forum (“The Great Convergence”) positions Erudio Bio’s thesis in front of exactly the right audience: Korean-Silicon Valley AI and biotech leaders
- Selective speaking engagements should explicitly connect to Erudio Bio’s mission and technology
The Operating Principle: Let K-PAI work FOR Erudio Bio passively rather than actively managing K-PAI as a separate commitment. The community I’ve built is the infrastructure. Erudio Bio is the mission it now serves.
Speaking and Thought Leadership
- Selective engagement - only when it serves Erudio Bio’s mission or genuinely contributes to human understanding of AI-biotech
- The lecture titles developed (“The Great Convergence”, “The Integrated Entrepreneur”, “The Boundary-Crossing Scientist”) are strong and authentically represent my perspective
- Use platform to build Erudio Bio credibility, not as an end in itself
Honest Self-Reminders
- External recognition is no longer my primary motivator - this is healthy, not a problem to fix
- The loss of motivation is likely a combination of genuine exhaustion after two intense years AND the natural consequence of having outgrown external-validation-driven motivation
- Self-created meaning requires periodic conscious renewal - reconnect with WHY Erudio Bio matters, not just WHAT it does
- Test important self-assessments against honest mirrors - people who will genuinely push back, not just validate
- My wife’s perspective matters enormously - she has 20+ years of context and genuine insight into my patterns
- Focus practically: Pomodoro technique, exercise before deep work, protect morning hours, reduce multitasking
The Core Insight
The past two years demonstrated what becomes possible when integrated wisdom meets conscious purpose. The next phase requires something different: not intensity, but depth. Not breadth of activity, but clarity of focus.
The mission is clear: help build technology that reduces human suffering from cancer, at a moment in history when this is finally possible.
That is enough. That is more than enough.
